DisneyLand Honeymoon Day 1

Ok so it was very magical at Disneyland. I cannot write this blog post without putting in excerpts of Disney songs so here it goes!

Let's just skip to when we fly into Disneyland. Imagine Andrea and Steven flying in a little aeroplane over Disneyland and Andrea having this really cheeky smile on her face...

"Up you go with a heigh and ho
To the stars beyond the blueThere's a Never Land waiting for youWhere all your happy dreams come trueEvery dream that you dream will come true
When there's a smile in your heartThere's no better time to startThink of all the joy you'll findWhen you leave the world behindAnd bid your cares good-byeYou can fly! You can fly! You can fly!" - Peter Pan

We signed into the Disneyland Hotel (yes that's actually the name of the hotel), and what do I see?

"Oh! Just look! It's like I'm in a storybook!
Oh! It's bliss! I dreamed that it would be
Somewhat-  But not Like this!
Look over there! Oh my god! How very odd! And what might they be? Something splendid, maybe!
Look over here! Could you bust? Isn't it just
Bedazzling, dazing
Utterly amazing! Gazing 'round, it's like, to die! Just seeing it feels so good
I'd scream if I only could! I'd hoped and wished
And wanted so to be here
Wished and prayed
And planned it to a "t"
Prayed and wow!
Just look - it's really me here!
Walking around, strange as it seems
Somewhere beyond my wildest dreams!"
-Ariel, The Little Mermaid Broadway Musical

THERE WERE MICKEY MOUSE HEAD HIDDEN EVERYWHERE THROUGHOUT THE HOTEL OH MY GOD! IN THE BATHROOM TILES, ON THE CARPET, IN OUR DESK LAMP, ON THE FAUCET, ON THE JANITOR'S DOOR ... it was like playing hide and seek with Mickey <3

In the main lobby there were was a souvenir shop and a Disney themed convenient store, AND an amazingly HUGE map of both Disneyland and Disney California Adventures park which light up popular destination spots at those parks! In front of the front desk, there was also a TV playing retro Mickey Mouse cartoons!
After we signed in and brought out luggage upstairs i saw that we had extra pillows on both bed.. one pillow on the one queen size bed saying "a dream, is a wish your heart makes..." and the other on the second bed saying "...when you're fast asleep."
:'O EEEP!

OK so after we drop our luggage, i quickly change into my Disney outfit for day one and we run right into Downtown Disney to explore that whole area before the real adventure begins on day 2.

Downtown Disney is pretty cool! there's always a live jazz show playing, and multiple musicians that go there to play music at night while pedestrians get to sit and enjoy their food or dance! That area of Disneyland is free entry but the parks you'll need to pay for, so it's ALWAYS busy.

We stopped by a Pin Trading post first to buy pins and.. WE GOT FREE DISNEY SWAG! the cashier gave us free "just married" buttons to wear on our whole trip!

Then we went to a Pearl shucking booth and the sales guy named Anh (he's so nice) he showed us how to shuck a farmed oyster to get a pearl. We all yelled ALOHA together and tapped on the shell 3 times before opening and he got out a pinkish gold pearl, which was very pretty! Pink meant Beauty and Gold meant Prosperity. Then he set the pearl in a two dolphin necklace for me to wear :D (obviously I had to purchase it) and then as a wedding gift he let us shuck an oyster and keep the second pearl for free!! This time it was cream coloured which meant happiness :D well I was pretty darn happy at this point!

By then it was dinner time so we decided to stop by Jazz Kitchen for dinner. the food there was AH-MAZING. Wasn't even two full hours since landing and it already felt so magical! Everyone at the park was SO polite! More polite than us.... and we're Canadian... that's saying something.
We ordered a seafood martini with avocado and mango/watercress salsa- it was YUMMILICIOUS.
The main dish we both ordered made up for the food I didn't get to eat at the wedding - beef medallion with crawfish mash potatoes... it was SO good that... Steven and I both forgot to take pictures of it. However! we did get a picture of our dessert! (on his facebook photos) Pineapple upside down cake without ice cream .. oh my god it tastes sooo good <3

A lot of the staff there congratulated us! even the ones who weren't serving us and was just passing by or coming over to say hi!

"Bonjour! bonjour! BONJOUR! bonjour! Bonjour!"

After we finished our meal, we went to the Wonderground gallery. The store is just full of fan artists' paintings, and digital art, and sculptures that you may or may not have seen on Deviant Art or facebook... we met an artist there who was super friendly and congratulated us as well! We got to talking about school and art... and I asked him how he got the job working for Disney. He told me that he actually used to be a janitor for Disneyland and he would just use his mop and kept drawing with his wet mop on the pavement and guests would actually circle around him just to watch him do ground art. He also kept his portfolio updated and never gave up the dream. Eventually Disney got him the job to become an artist :') aww! it was such a sweet story that I was struggling so hard not to cry in the gallery!! This is the true meaning of...

"the dreams that you wish will come true." - Cinderella

By then it was 9:30 pm and the fireworks started but we were outside the park so we only caught a glimpse of the top of the fire works. I teared up a bit because I was anticipating tomorrow's show. Here I am standing outside in the dark thinking:

"There ain't nothin' gonna stop me now cuz I'm almost there! I'M ALMOST THERE!" -Tiana, Princess and the Frog
After that finished, we headed to the hotel again but decided to stop by the World of Disney store to buy these really fat.. or phat?.. Minnie Mouse slippers because my feet were hurting. IT WAS SO MAGICAL AND BIG IN THERE!! THEY HAD EVERYTHING! Stuffed animals, toys, music boxes, figurines, DVDs, music Cd's, kitchen supplies, items for interior design... went right up my alley.

Going to bed we tried turning off the lamp but i hit the wrong button... or at least I thought I did, when suddenly you could hear soft music box playing "a dream is a wish your heart makes" and the wooden bed board, connecting the two queen beds, with the Disneyland Sleeping Beauty castle etched in the wood, lit up with stars and fire works! EEK!
I BROKE DOWN IN HAPPY TEARS. THIS WAS THE BEST SURPRISE DISNEY COULD EVER GIVE ME ON THE FIRST HONEYMOON NIGHT. EVARR!

This was only day one. Can you imagine how i must have felt the rest of the trip? o-o
