Jack the giant slayer and stuff.

Wow. Haven't been on in a while. as per usual. Let's start off with a week ago today...

I went to see Jack the Giant Slayer in 3D.
Jack kinda reminded me of a medieval version of R... because of the costume.. his peasant costume had a hood on it. and his shirt was red.  and his inner shirt was grey. hm... or maybe it was because it was filmed at the same time as Warm Bodies and Jack was portrayed by Nicholas Hoult? no clue... but i don't wanna bore you with the details of a kid movie...
Simply put, I thought it was cute. There was enough romance, enough twists, enough comedy (children AND adult humour), a happy fairytale ending... and plenty of things to get scared about.. i think this one scene i jumped in my seat because of a giant..
I loved the character interactions and character development, those were fine..Also, great use of story telling at the beginning to tell the legend of giants and the legend of the one king that was able to control them...The story starts off with CGI everything starts off with "Fee fi fo fum, ask not whence the thunder comes" or something like that.

One thing i didn't like was the ending where they kinda make it so that overtime it became modern day and the story of the legend of the giants became the children's story jack and the beanstalk. was kinda unnecessary...

Wedding Decor and Cats

So yesterday i went to go see the decorators for the wedding. We discussed the details, and i am happy to say we officially have our decorators! We discussed flowers, shells, seating, linen, chairs, ceremony, lounge... all that fun stuff :) so mad excited! AIEEE! the decorator even agreed to include my blue bottles!! yayyy!!

So for today it's going to be extremely pic heavy since i want a place to have all my photos.

Mary-sue, how I loathe thee and thy clones :maybe spoilers:

Why on earth are there so many Mary-Sue books being turned into movies? UGH. I'm talking about books besides the Twilight series... Like Beautiful Creatures, or the Host, or even the City of Bones series.

Mary Sue: a female character representing the author. A poorly developed character, too perfect, and lacking in realism to be interesting.

It's overdone. It's lame. it's ANNOYING. It's like INUYASHA, or SailorMoon but the best qualities of it being magnified 10 TIMES until it is so fucking bad and cliche.

The Mary Sue story usually involves a normal boring school girl, suddenly introduced to a magical realm of vampire fairies, given magical powers and undergoes a magical change in herself, and all of a sudden supernatural creatures want her even though she is super ugly.

OR the complete opposite; magical, with many talents, awesome in music, and forbidden to love a human.

MOST COMMON THEME OF MARY SUE STORIES ARE STUPID TEENAGE LOVE TRIANGLES. AND THE STORY IS ALWAYS WRITTEN IN FIRST PERSON PERSPECTIVE.

Let's BRIEFLY analyze these new movies for a little bit.

Beautiful Creatures
A new girl moves into town, and she's a witch who falls in love with a human boy. AS WITH ALL OTHER STORIES, she is forbidden to fall in love with a human boy. And then all hell breaks lose AND SHE FIGHTS FOR THE ONE SHE LOVES. She looks normal, but she can magically look incredibly beautiful, and she has a talent of playing violin.

Seen it being done already.

The Host
The girl and guy find love in a hopeless place. And then she gets kidnapped and her body is host to an alien. Once again, forbidden to stay in love with the human boy now that she's an alien, but she can magically fight against the illness, AND FIGHT FOR THE ONE SHE LOVES. She looks normal, except for the fact that her eyes can glow and the alien inside the girl can talk to her. Oh and also, the alien falls in love with the guy that the girl is with *SIGH... FORBIDDEN LOVE*.... And all hell breaks lose.

Interesting concept, if it wasn't for the fact that forbidden love just completely kills the entire thing.

City of Bones
Am incredibly normal looking girl school girl turns magical once she finds out she can "see shadowhunters" because her mother was one, and everyone else thinks she's crazy because she's the only one who can see these hunters. Of course, as with most plots, a love triangle happens between two guys and the main character. Hell also breaks loose again... from hunting demons. also, the girl and one of the other guys fall in love with each other but they find out near the end they're actually siblings... y'know, after they kissed n everything...

FORBIDDEN LOVE AGAIN? REALLY?


Seriously? Recycling themes too much here guys. Can I see something different?
War? fighting? fantasy? forbidden love? The main plot rotating around a girl? This is.. ugh. i cannot even. I put them in the same category as Twilight.

I'm a Disney girl, in a Disney world~

On Saturday i went to get my hair dyed just in time for my friend's late Disney/Honorary unofficial Disney birthday party. Like i said, i went as Syrena from Pirates of the Caribbean. [Midway through the party i was getting sweaty in my tail, so the birthday girl lent me her oversized red pajamas and i became BOO from Monsters inc. And Steven went as Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid! Now that I'm looking at these pics, i think my boobs are quite round :S

:DISCLAIMER: Before you go thinking I'm a skank for just going in a bra only that makes me look naked, I was not the only one. Ariel was there too. And Slut-Alice. We're all drama/theatre people. We're quite comfortable showing off out skin. MOVING ON!

And just because I'm that awesome enough to have TWO costumes and an amazing tail, I won first prize for best costume ;)

It felt so great to be out of that tail. It was quite a work out trying to play keep-ups with the balloons... and dancing.. and getting down the stairs.. and migrating to the kitchen..

Flippin' your fins, you don't get to far... Legs are required for jumpin', dancin'...

 and shimmying on the balcony with fairies. oh yeee! It felt sooo great to be out of a tail after 4 hours. NOW I know how Ariel felt when she had her legs. I got quite wobbly after.

Before we took my tail off, we decided to come up with the few mermaid dance moves:

The Mermaid [consists of lying on the ground and belly dancing on the floor with your arms attached to your side. Can be done standing up as well]
The Arabian Mermaid [consists of standing upright and belly dancing with arms up]
The Seaweed [consists of standing upright with arms moving in the air like seaweed, and rotating your waist around in counter clockwise circles]
The Seahorse [consists of bobbing your head forward and combining it with the Mermaid]
The Scuba Diver [no explanation necessary]
The Wave variation 1 [Both arms parallel to each other, pointing in one position, move them as if you're hula dancing]
The Barbara Streisand [previously discussed in another blog post. consists of disk scratching the air, clapping of the hands, and a pelvic thrust.]
The Wave variation 2 [break dance position]

Many dancing and drinking games after, we all sang the Asian national anthem... "I'LL MAKE A MAN OUT OF YOU."

So i didn't open my gift bag from the Disney party yet and my niece got a hold of it and opened... a condom :|

Backstory: my fairy friend is part of a sex education group and so she has a stash of condoms and lube to promote safe sex and i wasn't aware she put them in the bag LOL....

I came home last night to my niece saying "auntie. there's this really weird Atlantis jelly thing in the candy bag!" i ask her "oh cool is it a jellyfish?" she responds with "no but it was really sticky."

i go upstairs to look at my new jellyfish toy because that's what i thought it was. COMPLETELY unaware that it was a condom that she opened. i find it open on my desk and was like.. "oh no, why is it neatly placed on the top shelf?" on the package said ATLAS. niece thought it said Atlantis. x_x

i run back downstairs and ask her mom "she doesnt know what a "c-o-n-d-o-m is right? cuz she just opened one up"
and her mom was like "LOL .. no i dun think so... LOL SHE OPENED ONE UP?"
and then my niece goes "IT'S FOR PREGNANCY! i read on the back and i say the word pregnancy!"
and her mom goes 'HAHA oh shit this girl is too smart..."

only one question remained... who put the open condom on my top desk? who would put things away on the top shelf? who was alone at the time? only my mother o-o;;; i came to this conclusion this morning.

and so far this morning she seems calm. TOO CALM. and too nice. o-o in fact she's going shopping!

at least i have a legitimate excuse to give about why i have condoms in my possession... here's how i think it'll go down.

"my friend is part of a sex ed department and she gives out condoms to everyone including friends as a joke... and also to promote safe sex. so she put 2 in my bag and Adeline thought it was candy and i didn't even know about it till this morning." 

"what kind of friend gives you condoms in a Disney candy bag for kids?"

Warm bodies review :spoilers:

So out of curiosity i decide to watch a zombie love story.
I honestly don't do the necrophilia thing

:Yes I HAVE seen the movie, THEREFORE I have the right to talk about how shitty it is:

Anyway! I went out to see it. Mainly because Nicholas Hoult was in it and i wanted to see this movie first before seeing Jack the Giant Slayer. Looks like a good actor. Looks like a cute guy. Was in Xmen first class. Oh he has a natural ENGLISH ACCENT?? Ok I'm in!

So. Before i go into extreme details about the tiny stuff, let me just say.. that it was actually not so bad! Was really really cute! I like how at the beginning they kinda establish his character with R narrating what goes on in his head (habits, behaviours, thought process...which is really ironic because zombies can't use their brains).

So he plays this zombie named R. R doesn't remember his name but he knows it began with an R. he collects ALL OF THE SHINY stuff, vinyl, and other stuff. there was this once scene where he brought into his air plane house a silver snow globe (with a couple holding hands) and it was just when he kidnapped the girl. and it was kinda like HE was looking for love.

Nick did a pretty good job of playing the poor guy. i genuinely felt sorry for him! like... here's this girl who is frightened for her life and is being held hostage because he wanted to protect her from the other zombies. you see him trying to get food for her, getting a blanket for her to stay warm, playing music to relax her, giving her a beer from the air plane fridge for her to drink... but it just kinda throws you off because he's DEAD. and he probably reeks of decomposition. (she will eventually have Stockholm syndrome and become mad attached to him. digressing!)

You feel bad for him! Like the part when he eats her bf's brains, but then after the third time he eats it, he spits it out because he was like "WTF AM I DOING!!!" for the rest of the movie he tried to protect her. and then he apologizes to her for eating her boyfriend and he even returned the boyfriend's shiny gold watch and then you feel more bad for the guy because she probably didn't feel anything for him and here he is apologizing and protecting her and trying to bring her home ;__; DAW!
And then when he wanders back and meets his zombie friends who are becoming human too, they ask him if he's ok. and then he responds "no" and he looks like he's crying and whimpering and AWWW ;__; poor R.. and he carried her picture around with him because he loved her (pictures were taken night before. they were taking pics of each other for fun) i think this was the cutest scene for me and the most moving. .... although now that i think about it he still looked scary, and very emo. like if i didnt already feel sorry for him and just went in watching starting from the part where he's walking in the rain, i think i'd be like "OK DAFAQ AM I WATCHING"

A lot of the scenes were funny.. like at the beginning when they were establishing his character... ALSO, a lot of the funny scenes and lines that were used for the trailer WERE in the movie, so those were the most hilarious... especially when he tells her to BE DEAD and he's teaching her now and sticking his arms out xD. and then the girl was teaching him how to drive and he used both feet instead of one x'D
and when she was comparing the zombie blueray movie to him, and putting his collection of sunglasses on him but he didnt wanna wear any of them ahaha...
and when the girls were putting makeup on him and he was protesting "N-N-N-Noooo.." LOL
and when she tells him to "quit shrugging, why do you keep shrugging!"...and he shrugs cuz he doesnt know.. and when she's all like "REALLY?" and he still shrugs LOL....
and when he always gives her these creeper looks when she's eating LOL...
and when he's reading a gossip magazine and kim kardashian is on the cover and he's all like 'dafaq??' and he's all focused  xDDD
there was also this scene where his best friend and him kept grunting at each other for like one minute until one of them said "hungry" and "eat"... his best friend also swore a lot. and at the end of the movie, the best friend was chatting it up with a human woman and he was like 'you're very pretty.... now here's the part where you say I'M pretty too!"

A few times in the movie i kinda wanted to puke... like when R eats her boyfriend's brains. YEECH. (WTF was that thing made out of? it looked like pulverized JELLO).
also when he was trying to smile at her but his teeth were rotting and all bloodied from eating brains. Nasty... but also quite funny to see because he was trying to smile and be nice.
there was also a time where i kinda felt.. confused and also disgusted? like when the girl kisses R near the end and then you still realize "well wait a minute isn't he still a zombie? you're kissing a decaying person who isn't really decaying anymore... oh god why." it's cute.. but mad disgusting.
yeeechh!! i cannot imagine making out with a corpse, tongue action and all... what if his breath stinks? what if there's random maggots in his mouth? then afterwards he became human again so the 2nd kiss wasn't so bad.

I kinda don't feel like reading the book because i dont wanna ruin all the funny scenes... but at the same time i kinda do wanna read to see how dark it is (apparently its VERY dark and the girl is a total bitch)

ummm... oh yeah rating.
I WOULD give this movie... 6/10, mainly because without the funny/cute scenes i probably wouldn't have liked it as much (because i love comedic relief), but also because since its kinda necrophilia-ish and it was a weird concept for me to accept because like i said before... i hate it when there's this lame forbidden love story and then everything ok after, like TWILIGHT or BEAUTIFUL CREATURES. it's like.. very mary-sue.
but i genuinely did enjoy it because you feel bad for R, you're happy for him in the end, and it's not like those movies where you follow a stupid little annoying drama-tastic girl around, you're following a GUY who's feelings are genuine and so simple, and he doesnt make a huge ass fucking deal out of everything like fuckin ERDWURD SPARKLEPANTS CULLEN; Lady sparklepants has a big fucking mansion high up on a mountain, surrounded by wilderness and a shit ton of money, and an emotionless girl actually was crazy enough to like a sparkle-fairy bloodsucker. he has no reason to be emo. HE HAD SEX WITH HER AND HAS A CHILD. good grief!
R HAS a reason to be emo; he doesnt remember his name, where he comes from, who he is although we can kinda assume he was a sit-at-home-unemployed-hoarder who lives on a plane, and he can't even express himself properly! and the girl he like was actually scared shit of him.
R kinda reminded me of Erik. honestly, who can hold the title of a "corpse," hold captive a female whom he loves, pamper the shit out of her, and have her love him in the end? this whole concept reminded me of only Erik... and now R. so i dunno MAYBE i felt sorry for him BECAUSE he reminded me of Erik always pampering christine and all he ever asked was for her not to abandon him?
(ohoh i also recall this cute scene where he was asking her "st-stay togetherr...promise..?" ;___; AWW!!)

and ok, since i ALSO have a slight celebrity crush on nicholas hoult after this movie, i ACTUALLY give it 7/10.

Pretty little liar.

So yesterday i went to a bridal show... which was also really short lived cuz i didn't really see much there. also i went in place of a friend who couldnt make it to pick up her gift bag. here's how it went down..

"oh shoot, i dont remember, i just moved into my place recently!"

i was pretty slick. thank god for drama class.

there was very few booths in there. one dj, one decorator, a few wedding coordinators, one designer, and one videographer/photographer booth. there was this one area where this guy was showcasing wedding dresses. i found one made entirely out of crystals, but he kept switching prices... and he was asian so that was pretty sketchy. then there was this other booth who was selling tuxes but the guy didn't seem interested. another toothbrushes, and another beauty supplies. needless to say i got a lot of stuff for the bride. it only lasted maybe 20 minutes lol.. so steven and i decided to "go look around the halls and venture around until more stuff came up." then i suggested "hey it's really hot. lets walk around and scope the outside of the venue instead and head back in when they have more stuff."

and that, was how we bounced out of there. ~slick~

afterwards i finally caught up with pretty little liars. Spencer is my new favourite character.
i must say i think i am a pretty good liar now haha... pun intended? :| totally wasnt aware of it until i was reading it over.

Anyway, Kamelot is coming back to Toronto and i am soooo stoked. so i went on a downloading rampage and bought 4 more of their albums. hehehe... i'l be prepared. yeah.

also my new idols are lucy lawless and alissa white-gluz. because they're tough, beautiful, AND smart. coincidentally they also work for PETA. hum... maybe it's a sign i should start going vegan.
i've been eating vegetarian so far this week. mainly because i don't like meat as much as i used to, and maybe my body is telling me "feed me more veggies, too much meat, getting sick of it!".
i've still been eating small amounts of fish and egg. and a serving of meat because my mother insists, BUT i've been good. meh.

Detox.

On Sunday i got tired of being depressed and decided to do a body detox

I went swimming for two hours. normally i stay in the kiddie pool to practice strokes and kicks... and also because i was scared of the big kids pool where it's a bit deeper (the community center had two separate pools) but i decided to get rid of my fear for deep water and jumped into the big kids pool... as long as i stayed in the shallow end.

Wasn't so bad, i actually floated for the most part. maybe it was because there was more water that could hold my body up? idunno, i failed physics. but anyway it was pretty awesome. i kinda just sat "on" the water and waved my arms and legs a bit to just stay afloat. steven eventually joined me and it was a lot easier for him to float with only one noodle. (in the kiddie pool he normally uses two because he's just too heavy, i guess... but also maybe because there wasn't enough water to hold him up? again, physics.)

 I was a lot more relaxed in this water compared to the kiddie pool cuz i could just float and not worry about sinking.... or drowning. I practiced real strokes and dolphin kicks this time. I think I've made a lot of progress!

Emotionally, i feel a lot better after the swimming. i haven't gone to the community center for a while because it's been too cold to go out. i really missed swimming. It's so weird, i thought i'd forget how to swim after taking a month off, but it felt really natural to jump in the water and glide even after the fact. i can't wait to actual swim in my friends pool in a mermaid tail hahaha~~ i forgot how happy i used to be just doing whatever i wanted.

After swimming i took a long ass shower in the girls change room. ugh i so badly needed it.

Went back to steven's house to have veggie burgers. the past week i've been eating a lot less. because i was so depressed , i subconsciously not knowing i went vegetarian for a week! (Minus friday, i had popeyes chicken, popcorn bread and cajun fries. otherwise i had two cranberry toasts for breakfast and water, a handful of banana-chips, and a bowl of rice for dinner which really doesn't count as one full meal.) anyway for my meal i had two veggie burgers on whole grain buns with avocado, and potatoes on the side.

i think, after eating partially vegetarian for almost a week and swimming, i think i've lost some tummy fat. weight is still about the same but i am a lot thinner.

Since the disney party is this saturday i decided to do my nails to match my mermaid tail. (rosegold nails. pink sparkly nail polish on the tips of the thumbs and ring fingers, and sparkly gold tips on the rest.... it looks like i took off scales off my tail and placed them on my nails. and i left my toes rosegold in case i decide to take off my tail. i am the most extra person ever.

Watched a bit of King of the Nerds as planned. Didn't go see a movie though.

Then steven and i talked about useless stuff before i went home... stuff like "what's the deal with guys being attracted to two girls making out?"

then i decided to go home early and sleep. (went to bed at 9:30, woke up at 7:30. i'm actually a lot better now.)

lesson of the day? if you're feeling depressed, give yourself a physical detox. you'll feel a lot better.

feeling horrible.

my friend little red hasnt found a venue yet. hasnt booked a venue yet. hasnt got the money to book the venue yet. doesnt have a job yet. and is very behind on payments. her scheduled wedding date is in august... which is 6 months...

i feel horrible for her. hopefully she'll pull through.

because of this, i feared for my life about MY wedding. so i've been going to consultations and booking dates like mad. almost done.

because of all the stress about both weddings, these past few days have been dragging me down. been feeling really depressed.

i think its high time i went on a little 2 hour vacation to the pool. and do my nails. maybe watch a movie... (i still need to watch warm bodies, oz, and jack the giant slayer.) and maybe read a few PLL spoilers to tide me over until the next episode on tuesday. and catch the new episode of king of the nerds. i think moogega is gonna win since next episode is all about SCIENCE... and she works for NASA. hummmm...

Saturday i went to see the florist. that thing didnt go so well. she seems like an at home business person. scratching her off the list.
i think steven and i decided that we have the money to have big decor and flowers, so we're going with a
professional
then i contacted traci hines over etsy to make a deposit for bridal stuff, but she hasnt gotten to it yet. regardless, we still have the money to pay her.

afterwards i had a "mystery detectives" marathon. its not exactly like CSI, but do have interesting cases that use a lotta forensic science.
